Leapfrog Alliance Ltd, an organisational performance improvement company based in Lagos, will be hosting selected manufacturing companies to a seminar at Adebola House, Opebi, Ikeja on the 27th of March. The theme is "New Profit Strategy for Manufacturing Companies".

Explaining the rationale for the seminar, Samuel Okoro, CEO of Leapfrog Alliance Ltd stated that while macro-economic and environmental factors certainly do affect company performance, there are untapped potentials for profit improvement through superior operations. He says the seminar will be introducing a new approach to manufacturing operations which was developed by the Israeli physicist-turned-management guru, Eliyahu Goldratt over the last two decades.

Giving the example of a frustrated salesman at a known paper mill who recently lost millions in potential revenue because he could not offer delivery date commitments that would satisfy the prospect, Mr. Okoro said that with the new approach, manufacturing lead time can be reduced by 50% or more. "Certainly, that salesman would have made the sale and won that account, and his company's performance would have been better for it", he concluded. In addition to reductions in lead time, significant increases in throughput and reduction in inventory required to support a given level of production are expected.

According to him, companies that have adopted this new approach to operations begin to see results in as little as six weeks to three months, with little or no capital investments required. Says Mr. Okoro, "What happens is a true maximisation of existing potential."

The event which will be chaired by the president of Nemeith Pharmaceuticals, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, will be partly sponsored by telecom giant MTN.
